This year's building season was kicked off in March 2019 with two new motorway sections. In the middle of Match construction of the D35 motorway between Opatovice and Časy started. And at the end of March the first part of the České Budějovice (Budweis) bypass on the D3 officially started as well. Modernisation of the D1 will of course continue.

"On Friday, 29 Mach 2019, we are officially starting the construction of the České Budějovice bypass in section Hodějovice – Třebonín. Construction of the first part of the bypass from Úsilné will start this year still. This will turn the D3 motorway into the biggest motorway construction site in the Czech Republic and almost 40 km of the new motorway, of which eight will be opened this year, could be under construction at once," says the transport minister Dan Ťok.

The 20km bypass of České Budějovice is split in two building sections: construction of D3 0310/I Úsilné-Hodějovice with a length of 7.2 km and D3 0310/II Hodějovice-Třebonín with a length of 12.6 km. Sections D3 0309/I Bošilec-Ševětín with 8.1 km and scheduled opening in July 2019 by the latest and a section D3 0309/II Ševětín-Borek with 10.7 km are currently under construction.


Construction of another D35 section will start and D1 upgrades will continue


On Thursday 14 March construction of the D35 in section Opatovice nad Labem – Časy with a length of 12.6 km started. This section will follow up section Časy and Ostrov with 14.7 km that is currently under construction. Both motorway sections have 27.3 km and will be completed in 2022.

On Friday 8 March, workers will start with preparations for continued upgrades of the D1 motorway. Traffic restrictions will be situated in section 2 between Mirošovice on km 21 and Hvězdonice on km 29 and in section 7 between Soutice on km 56 and Loket on km 66. Repairs of remaining D1 sections (altogether 7 sections with an aggregate length of 71 km) should start this year still. With construction works being done during motorway operation, the entire motorway between Mirošovice and Brno shall be completed in 2021.

At the moment 187 km of motorways and category I roads are under construction, of which 107 km are a green-field motorway investment, 21 km are D1 sections and 59 km are upgrades of category I roads.
Another 178 km are prepared for construction in 2019. Most advanced sections are the Brno D1 motorway, the South-Bohemian D3, the Karlovy Vary D6, the Chomutov D7, the Hradec Králové D11 and the Frýdek-Místek bypass on D46 and D56, including the extension to the D48 and the Otrokovice bypass on D55.
