Today the Czech Republic won the vote of the PIARC Council in Japan on which country shall organise the World Road Congress. This means that in 2023 Prague will see the arrival of traffic experts from all the world. Our capital will follow up the 14th World Road Congress which took place in Prague in 1971.

The Czech Republic will host the PIARC World Road Congress after 52 years again

"Hosting the World Road Congress is great success and a matter of high prestige for the Czech Republic. Traffic experts from all over the world will come to meet in Prague. This will be an excellent opportunity to present the Czech Republic as a country which has dramatically changed since the 1970s and can rightfully claim a place among modern European states," says the Transport Minister Dan Ťok.

Prague got 122, Sydney 66 and Kuala Lumpur 32 votes in a secret vote about the congress venue. The Czech capital won primarily thanks to its corresponding professional care available for road experts. Another important factor which influenced the vote by the member states is the convenient geographical location of Prague in the heart of Europe. Thanks to our location, we are well connected with other world regions and are easy to reach.

PIARC is an international non-profit and non-political association devoted to international cooperation in road traffic and road infrastructure. The Czech Republic is a member of this association. The World Road Congress has been organised since 1909. The last one took place in Soul in 2015 and the 2019 venue is the United Arab Emirates.
