Emission measurement stations are starting to make photos of vehicles, so far only in the test mode

Today the trial operation starts in the emission measuring stations, during which mechanics were taking photos of the vehicles. The images will be stored together with the measurement results in the Information System of the Technical Inspection Station that communicates on-line with the Ministry of Transport. The same system has been used since last year in Technical Inspection Stations. The full operation starts on December 1.

Emission measurement stations are starting to make photos of vehicles, so far only in the test mode

"The stations that do not register to the system until the end of November will not be able to issue a valid emission measurement protocol. Currently there are over 1,000 emission measurement stations registered out of a total of 1,800", says the Minister of Transport Dan Ťok.

The number of Emission Measurement Stations is, unlike in the case of Technical Inspection Stations, not regulated in any way. It is therefore possible that some emission measurement stations that have been authorised for carrying out this activity in the past, but are no longer active or do not want to continue, will not register in the system.

Documenting the presence of a car on the line for the measurement should prevent fraud in measuring emissions. It will no longer be possible that the vehicle passes the inspection without actually visiting the station. Since December it will also no longer be possible that a vehicle that does not pass the measurement in one station goes and "tries its luck" in another station. The reason is that the measurement protocols will include, in addition to photos, times and the check time. Furthermore, records in the system cannot be overwritten.

Emission engineers will document the front and rear view of the vehicle as well as the production plate, the tachometer and the VIN code – in the same way as in the technical inspection. The images will also serve as additional mileage verification. This change will simplify administration for the emission measurement stations. Once a station writes the vehicle data in the system, it will only search and find the data with the next measurement and will not need to enter the data again.

Attached you will find the up-to-date list of the 1011 stations that have registered as of today. The up-to-date list of stations that are authorised to emission measurements will be available to drivers on the website of the Ministry of Transport on December 1.
