Modernisation of route Rokycany – Pilsen and Třinec bypass belong to a package of 25 big projects from ten EU member states for which the European Commission approved funding. This will bring EUR 151 million for Czech projects, i.e. almost CZK 4 billion. Both works are already serving the public, so this was only the formal completion of a demanding approval process.

We notified readers about the opening of the railway section Rokycany – Pilsen in December 2018. Travelling from Prague to Pilsen will be cut to one hour and 14 minutes thanks to this railway project that also involves the longest railway tunnel in the Czech Republic.

"Pilsen belongs to places that shall be reachable from Prague by train within one hour. And we can how closer to that again. Another objective is to improve our train connection with Germany thanks to a speed increase planned between Prague and Munich. The recent decision of the Federal Ministry of Transport about the re-classification of electrification and modernisation of the German part of this connection, which now belongs to top priorities in the Federal Transportation Routes Plan, will allow for this" said the transport minister Dan Ťok.

The Třinec bypass is another project that was supported. The 11-km section Nebory – Oldřichovice – Bystřice is part of the I/11 road and significantly relieved the inhabitants of Třinec and Vendryně. The bypass is also an important route connecting the Czech Republic with Slovakia and Poland.
