The government approved the highest budget of the State Fund for Transport Infrastructure ever. A total of CZK 127.5 billion shall be spent on transport infrastructure in 2021. Of this 90.5 billion is from national resources and 22 billion from EU funds. And another 15 billion is from the European Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF).

"The draft budget was increased from CZK 83.2 billion in 2020 to a record amount of CZK 127.5 billion for 2021. This means that we count on record spending on the construction of more than one hundred km of motorways and dozens of km of town bypasses, the completion of the D1 motorway reconstruction, construction and adjustments of railway hubs and corridors and continued repairs of dozens of station buildings. And we will also contribute to regional category II and III roads," says the transport minister Karel Havlíček.

A total of CZK 83 billion was allocated for investment in transport and CZK 44.5 billion is ready for non-investment spending such as repair and maintenance of transport infrastructure. The budget can be increased if even more spending is needed, e.g. to accelerate some projects.

Next Generation EU was also incorporated into the budget to cover, among other things, the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF). The Ministry of Transport and the National Fund for Transport Infrastructure count on spending CZK 15 billion in transport infrastructure next year.

The following infrastructure is currently under construction: 259.7 km of motorways and category I and roads, of which 127.7 km are motorways built on a green field (D11 Hradec Králové – Jaroměř, D35 Opatovice – Ostrov, D55 Otrokovice bypass and higher capacity of D7 Panenský Týnec bypass), 71 km of D1 motorway modernisation and 61 km of category I roads. Construction will continue in 2021 with the same speed. Construction work is under way on dozens of km of railway lines, 60 station buildings are undergoing a reconstruction and another 50 are waiting for reconstruction. In 2021 another 170 railway crossing will become safer.
