Four consortia will face each other in the final round of the competition for the extension and operation of 32 km of the D4 motorway between Písek and Příbram. This was decided by Transport Minister Dan Ťok following the analysis of seven applications. The competition will start at the beginning of 2019 and the winner could start building the entire motorway section in 2020.

Four companies were short-listed for the competition dialogue for the operation of the D4 motorway

"By the beginning of 2019 we are planning to open the competition dialogue where companies from France, an Austrian-German consortium, a German-Spanish-British association of companies and an Austrian-Australian-Spanish-French consortium will compete. The winning consortium shall start building another 32 km of the D4 motorway and operate them for 25 years after construction completion," says the Transport Minister Dan Ťok.

Seven requests for participation were filed. The Ministry of Transport assessed whether all seven applications meet the tender terms and which bidders best meet the technical qualification criteria. The commission then stated that all bidders met the tender terms and recommended – in accordance with the tender terms – limiting their number to four for subsequent negotiations in the so-called competition dialogue.

After this, contractual documentation will be finalised and provided to the bidders as input for their participation in the competition dialogue. The ministry plans to send the call for participation in the competition dialogue by the beginning of next year unless one of the losing consortia raises objections to the limitation of the number of bidders.

"The development preparations for the D4 extension continue, last pieces of land are being purchased and rental agreement and liens prepared. The Ministry of the Environment has also completed the EIA process and a positive binding statement was issued for the entire remaining D4 section," adds minister Ťok.
