The new electronic vignettes with validity from 1 January 2021 are now available for purchase. The e-vignettes can be bought at edalnice.cz, post offices and petrol stations EuroOil. On the first day (1 December 2020) people bought on the e-shop eDalnice 2,398 e-vignettes in the total amount of CZK 3,541,395. In most of the cases, people purchased a one-year vignette (2,333). The petrol stations EuroOil sold 137 e-vignettes and post offices 281 e-vignettes. In total, 2,861 electronic vignettes were sold on the first day.

The sale of electronic vignettes for 2021 began
“We launch the sale of electronic vignettes for 2021 a month ahead of time. After 25 years, it will be no longer necessary to stick anything on the windscreen. Everything can be easily done via Internet. The one-year vignette is valid for 365 days and can be purchased at any time during the year”, said minister of transport Karel Havlíček.

Drivers can purchase the electronic vignette at www.edalnice.cz on a computer or a mobile device. To purchase the e-vignette, simply enter the state of registration, licence plate number, select the vignette type and type of fuel. The fee for vehicles powered by natural gas or bio methane is lower (CZK 750 for one-year vignette, CZK 220 for 30-days vignette and CZK 155 for 10-days vignette).

The new system also changes the validity of the existing one-year vignettes. These will be newly valid not for one calendar year, but for 365 days following the date the driver choses. The payment can be done by card or bank transfer.

“We would like to apologize for the technical problems due to the fact that we wanted to launch the system ahead of time before 1 January 2021 and I would like to thank you for your patience ”, said Mr. Havlíček.
Another advantage of the new system is that users can turn on notifications upon request. They will then receive an e-mail or SMS about the approaching end of validity of their e-vignette.

Another option, how to purchase the e-vignette, is in person at a post office. The process is practically the same, only the payment can be done by card or in cash. E-vignettes are also available for purchase on petrol stations EuroOil.

Whether you buy the e-vignette online or in person, you will receive a proof of payment with an authorisation code, which will then allow you to set a notification at edalnice.cz about the end of validity of your e-vignette even after you purchase it at a trading venue. This applies also for a self-service kiosk that will be available from January 2021 mainly at border areas or at the beginning of charged roads. These will be operated by a state enterprise CENDIS, which developed the entire system of electronic vignettes for the State Fund for Transport Infrastructure.

Even though the website was on 1 December 2020 unavailable for couple of hours, 97,411 users tried the new e-shop on the first day. In the first 12 hours we have already registered nearly 43,000 visits. On the first day (1 December 2020) people bought on the e-shop edalnice.cz 2,398 e-vignettes in the total amount of CZK 3,541,395. In most of the cases, people purchased a one-year vignette (2,333). The petrol stations EuroOil sold 137 e-vignettes and post offices 281 e-vignettes. In total, 2,861 electronic vignettes were sold on the first day.
Until the end of 2020, drivers will still use or buy paper stickers for 2020. The electronic vignettes are valid from January 2021. Most of the drivers will need the new e-vignette from February 2021 since the current one-year paper vignette for 2020 is valid until the end of January next year.
