“This year, the budget of SFDI (the State Fund for Transport Infrastructure) reached a historical high, which is reflected also in rail transport. We continue to make railway safer whether on level crossings or in implementing ETCS. We also renovate railway buildings. This year, the investments will amount to CZK 1.7 billion. We will complete renovation of buildings for example in Havířov or Strakonice”, said minister of transport Karel Havlíček.

Správa železnic also plans to reconstruct up to 200 level crossings for ca. CZK 2 billion this year. In addition to the current warning lights, up to 40 level crossings will be equipped with crossing barriers. These barriers will be installed also on other 30 spots, which are currently equipped only with cross signs. Precautionary video monitoring system will be installed on 8 level crossings and 11 level crossings will be cancelled completely.

The biggest reconstruction this year will take place on a route Rumburk – Velký Šenov for CZK 334 million. The successful reconstruction will eliminate speed limits for modern vehicles and shorten travel times. Among other important constructions are also repairing works between stations Kryry and Vroutek by Louny (CZK 190 million) or a double-track railway between Bystřička and Jablůnka by Vsetín for CZK 173 million. Works will continue also on a route Horažďovice – Žichovice.

A significant change is planned for railway buildings. The renovation of the façade of Fantova building at Prague Main Station will end this year followed by the first phase of renovations of the interior. After the project is finished, construction works will begin also on a grand railway building in Pardubice. Reconstruction of other buildings such as Tábor, Opava-západ station, Pilsen Main Station or Pilsen-Jižní Předměstí will also begin. Works on railway buildings in Beroun and České Budějovice will continue. An interesting building in terms of architecture will be completed in Havířov.

Správa železnic will continue to increase safety on railways with direct traffic control. For more information about all constructions are available on an interactive map on the website of Správa železnic.
