One year since his appointment as the Upper Austria governor, Thomas Stelzer came to visit the Czech Republic. During his visit, he also met the Czech transport minister Dan Ťok and discussed the traffic connection between the two countries. They exchanged information on the current state of preparations and the future connection of the South-Bohemian D3 motorway to the Upper Austrian S10.

"All D3 sections from Tábor up to České Budějovice are completed or under construction and further sections which constitute the České Budějovice bypass are in an advanced stage of progress, so I believe we can start still this year or by the beginning of next year," said the transport minister Dan Ťok at the meeting.

The planning and building proceedings should start for the remaining sections towards the state border soon and drivers should be able to start using the South-Bohemian D3 motorway no later than in 2025. The connecting Austrian section – the S10 motorway – should be completed one year earlier.

Both delegations informed each other about the development of the railway connection between the two countries as well, particularly the corridor between Prague, České Budějovice and Linz where the introduction of two-hour regular intervals, as it is now planned, will bring more connection options in Linz towards Salzburg – Zürich. There are direct long-distance trains operating between Prague and Linz already now, with a travel time of four hours.
