The government decided 86.3 billion will be invested in the construction of motorways and railways

Next year CZK 86.3 billion shall be invested in the construction of new sections but also repairs of motorways, category I roads and railways. The government approved the budget of the State Fund for Transport Infrastructure. It also ruled that the finance and transportation minister shall invest four billion in repairs of municipal roads during the first quarter of next year.

"The budget for the next year will ensure that the construction of new motorways and railways can continue. A total of CZK 65.5 billion will come from national resources and CZK 20.8 from European funds. Together with the finance minister, we will look for the four billion during the first quarter of the next year in unspent expenses and the State Fund for Transport Infrastructure budget for category II and III roads," said the transport minister Dan Ťok after the government negotiations. The government provided additional CZK 15 billion for repairs of roads and bridges during the last four years.

The budget will make it possible to continue with the construction of 185 km of motorways and category I roads but also start new transportation projects. At the beginning of December construction of the 14.7km continuation of the D35 motorway in section Časy – Ostrov can start. Next year another 12.6 km of the D35 in section Opatovice nad Labem – Časy will follow. Construction of the bypass of Budweis on the D3, which involves two sections with a length of almost 20 km, can soon continue. And also the construction of the 22.6 km of two sections of the D11 extension from Hradec Králové via Smiřice to Jaroměř will continue. And last but not least, modernisation of the D1 on seven sections in a total length of 70 km will continue.

Reconstruction of the Negrelli viaduct in Prague will continue next year as well. Modernisation of the tracks from Prague towards Kladno, with a branch-off to the Václav Havel Airport, will follow this reconstruction. Modernisation of the rail line between the Prague Main Railway Station and Hostivař is also under way. Work will also continue on another section of the Fourth Transit Corridor from Prague to Budweis. Modernisation of the Sudoměřice – Votice track will bring a second track in this section, two tunnels and a new station Červený Újezd. The train speed will to up to 160 km/h, which will cut the travel time for express trains between Prague and Tábor to one hour. Construction works are expected to be completed in 2021.
