Preparations for the new Dresden – Prague rail connection continue
Last year, zoning proceedings for the German part of the project for the new Dresden – Prague railway connection commenced in the Free State of Saxony. The extension of the tunnel under the Ore Mountains will also be considered during the proceedings, so the Railway Administration will examine the possible impacts on the Czech part of the project.

Currently, the Railway Administration is preparing public procurements for a geodetic survey of the corridor for the planned RS 4 section of the high-speed rail line Praha-Vysočany – Lovosice/Litoměřice and for a geological and a natural survey. In addition, it will also ask for updates of the territorial development principles of the regions concerned, which is a step necessary to obtain a zoning permit. For these activities, the Railway Administration uses continuous outputs from the new railway connection Prague – Dresden feasibility study.

The new line will not only be important for international transport, but it will also significantly speed up the connection of the Ústí Region with Prague and contribute to the economic development of the entire region.
