Drivers can already ride on a new section of the D4 motorway between Skalka and the II/118 crossing The five-kilometre long section, which was today officially opened by the Transport Minister Dan Ťok, will significantly relieve the living environment for the inhabitants of the Dubenec municipality.

Drivers can now start using the section D4 Skalka – crossing II/118
The D4 construction in this section replaces the original I/4 road The most fundamental change is the extension of the number of lanes from two directionally undivided to four directionally divided lines, making the new section considerably safer for drivers. The new road position will be mostly welcomed by the Dubenec residents, because the D4 motorway section now creates a bypass around the municipality, so drivers will no longer have to go through the municipality.

"I am happy that live will be easier in the municipalities around the motorway now. Particularly the inhabitants of Dubenec no longer have to hold their breath. We want to continue with the construction of the D4 motorway through PPP. A tender for the consultant is now under way, which could be completed until the end of the year. The consultant will then help with the selection of the concessionaire. The design work and property settlements are already under way for the five construction projects covered by PPP," said Dan Ťok, the Transport Minister, during the opening of the new section.

In km 41.1 in the area of the Skalka crossing the motorway connects to the D4 motorway section already completed. All traffic from Prague to Strakonice and Písek runs on this road. The preparation of this set of civil structures includes the rebuilding of the existing I/4 road into a modern four-lane motorway on the territory of both the Central Bohemian and South Bohemian regions. Drivers will save between 6 and 10 minutes in this section alone, depending on the traffic intensity. According to the estimates of the Road and Motorways Directorate (ŘSD), a total of 13 240 vehicles per day should pass through the section in 2017 and this figure should increase to 15 500 vehicles per day in 2025.
