By the end of this year, another 130 parking spaces for trucks will be added to the D1 motorway, making a total of 850 parking spaces available. A further 213 parking spaces will be created for emergencies. As part of the winter maintenance, there will also be two spreading wagons on Exit 90 all winter, which can start immediately and treat the road if necessary. Minister of Transport Vladimir Kremlík informed about it at a joint meeting with the Governor of the Vysočina Region Jiří Běhounek, which follows the July meeting.

“Variable traffic signs that work with a combination of traffic and meteorological data should also contribute to traffic control. The Road and Motorway Directorate will install the signs on the territory of the Vysočina Region since December as a part of their pilot operation,” says Minister of Transport Vladimír Kremlík. The purpose of this measure is to regulate the traffic flow in time in order to ensure its continuity.

Since the last meeting in July, we have taken many concrete steps. There are reserves in the awareness of drivers, however, the Ministry of Transport of theCzech Republic and the Directorate of Roads and Motorways are working intensively to improve this. “We are trying to get ready for winter as much as possible and, using the experience from the interventions of all components of the integrated rescue system on the D1, to minimize the impacts of adverse weather affecting the operation of the motorway and the life of not only the inhabitants of our region,” Jiří Běhounek, President of the Vysočina Region, describes the content of the meeting.

The meeting was also attended by representatives of the Regional Road Administration and Maintenance and the integrated rescue system. Individual IRS units will be able to use new routes to exit the motorway in emergency situations. It will be possible to exit the motorway via rest areas or using service exits.
