The Austrian Motorway and Road Administration Authority Asfinag will give advice on the introduction of an electronic motorway toll collection system. It will provide consultations to the State Fund for Transport Infrastructure (SFDI) which is planning to launch the so-called videotolling from 2021. This is what the Czech transport minister Dan Ťok agreed with his Austrian counterpart Norbert Hofer today in Prague.
In 2019 a total of 22.4 km of new motorway sections on the D2 between Přerov and Lipník and on the D3 between Bošilec and Ševětín will open for drivers. The almost 25 km of category I roads to be completed this year include the bypass of Slaný, Lechovice and Znojmo. Work on another 178 kilometres of motorways and category I roads will start soon.
One kilometre of the new motorway costs 152 million crowns, that is 55 percent less than a decade ago. Currently, nearly almost 194 kilometres of motorways and 1st class roads, which often form bypasses of cities, are being built at half of the cost. This year's launch of new buildings continues, with over 150 kilometres of new roads ready.
The future railway tunnel for the high-speed railway through the Krušné hory mountains will be designed by Deutsche Bahn, operated in accordance with German regulations. This was agreed in Prague by Czech Minister of Transport Dan Ťok with his Saxon colleague Martin Dulige.
Owners of transportation companies are eagerly awaiting the result of negotiations about a revision of the European directive on sending workers abroad, which the western part of the EU understood as protection of their internal markets. The Czech Republic has the last chance influencing the decision whether the new rules will also apply to the transportation sector. If the transportation sector remains in the directive, then the red tape and wage conditions will ruin Czech hauliers.
In the coming days the covering and removal of illegal advertising facilities by motorways will start. The Ministry of Transport gave the ŘSD the instruction to first cover the first group of billboards as soon as possible and only then remove them at the expense of the advertisement owner. ŘSD will do so in accordance with the law within 15 days at the latest.
