The road link between the Czech Republic and Poland or the traffic situation at the border. These were the main topics discussed by Czech transport minister Martin Kupka and his Polish counterpart Andrzej Adamczyk during a tour of the border region. They also visited the construction site of the S3 speedway near Lubawka in Poland and held talks with the mayors of the municipalities affected by the construction of the D11 motorway in Trutnov.
On 8 July 2022, the Transport Programme 2021-2027 (OPD3) was officially approved by the European Commission. This paves the way for the Czech Republic to draw approximately EUR 4.9 billion to be spent primarily on the development of the road and rail network, but also on support of rail transport in cities, the construction of alternative fuel infrastructure and other interventions moving the transport system towards greater sustainability.
This weekend, the final construction season on D1 has begun. On Friday, warning signs and protective barriers were deployed, and on Saturday 20 February, the modernisation of a section 23 Devět křížů (EXIT 168)–Ostrovačice (EXIT 178) in direction to Brno started. As of Monday, drivers will drive in a 2+2 mode in carriageway in direction to Prague. Works on the other sections will start in the course of March.
By signing the concession agreement, the minister of transport Karel Havlíček confirmed that the construction of the remaining 32 kilometres and the following 25-year operation of D4 motorway will be managed by DIVia consortium. This marks the beginning of a pilot PPP project, which represents an alternative way to ensure construction and long-term operation of transport infrastructure, including the funding.
Thirty important traffic construction projects are delayed due to ecological and other associations. Prime Minister Andrej Babiš and Minister of Transport Karel Havlíček will negotiate with them again with the aim of completing these constructions. In addition, the Minister will promote the Line Act in the Chamber of Deputies to speed up the construction. It is one of the priorities of the resort.
The safety of autonomous vehicles, their development and testing was high on the agenda during the bilateral negotiations between the transportation minister Dan Ťok and the US Transportation Ministry. The minister attended the meeting during his visit to the USA. Road traffic safety and sharing of experience with the construction of transportation infrastructure were among the other topics discussed.
