Electronic vignette (time-based road charging)

The obligation to pay a time-based charge for use of toll road applies to all road motor vehicles with at least four wheels and a maximum permissible weight not exceeding 3.5 tonnes (over 3.5 tonnes is subject to toll payment). The charge must be paid before using a toll road.

Information in the registration certificate of a vehicle will determine the maximum permissible weight of a vehicle, regardless of attached trailer that would increase the weight of the combination of vehicles over 3.5 tonnes.

EDAZ-logo.pngFrom 1 January 2021, the Czech Republic uses an electronic system to collect time-based charge. It is possible to pay the charge online (www.edalnice.cz), in a self-service kiosk or at any post office of Česká pošta or EuroOil petrol station.

Types of e-vignettes

You can buy the e-vignette up to 3 months before the beginning of its validity. You can choose from several types according to the length of validity. One-year e-vignette comes with a flexible validity so it will be always valid for one year.

One year 30 days 10 days
CZK 1500 CZK 440 CZK 310
 CZK 750  CZK 220  CZK 155
eko-cena.pngOwners of vehicles powered by natural gas or biogas will pay a lower (ecological) price for the e-vignette according to paragraph 21 of Act on Road Infrastructure. Since this EcoPrice applies only to vehicles powered by natural gas or biogas (even in combination with other fuels), it cannot be applied to a vehicle powered by LPG.

krizek.pngDriver, who uses toll road without a valid e-vignette (except those who are exempted from payment), can be fined up to CZK 20,000. Misuse of exemption can be subject to a fine up to CZK 100,000. If a driver, whose vehicle is subject to exemption, uses a toll road without submitting a notification on exemption according to the Act, they can be fined up to CZK 5,000. The same fine applies to those, who fail to notify the State Fund of Transport Infrastructure within ten working days that there are no longer grounds for the exemption. Use of toll roads without a valid e-vignette can be subject to a fine up to CZK 5,000 on the spot or up to CZK 100,000 in an administrative proceeding.

   FAQ

Does my e-vignette remain valid if I change the number plate?
The e-vignette is not transferable between vehicles. However, if you need to exchange the number plate itself due to loss, damage or theft, it is possible. You just need to submit Notice of change of number plate (Avízo o změně SPZ). For more information, follow this link.

Is it possible to make a bulk purchase?
You can make a bulk purchase for data sets containing up to 200 vehicles (uploaded in .xls, .txt or other formats). The amount of uploaded data sets is not limited. There is only a cap of 10,000 vehicles for one payment. You can also use the data sets to set different starting dates of validity, type of e-vignettes or fuel type. You can pay by card or via a bank order. After the payment is complete, you will receive one e-mail with a zipped file, which will contain confirmation of payment for each vehicle for accounting and tax records.

What if I make a mistake during the purchase and buy e-vignette for a different number plate? Can I cancel the transaction?
If you buy the e-vignette at a point of sale, you can correct mistakes within 15 minutes from the payment (at the same point of sale).
If you buy the e-vignette online or at a self-service kiosk and select an immediate validity, you need to enter the data correctly. After you confirm the data and make the payment, it is not possible to change it or cancel the transaction.
If you buy the e-vignette online at www.edalnice.cz and set a postponed validity, you have the time to correct any mistakes until the starting date of validity. More precisely, you can make only one change to a number plate and one change to a starting date of validity.

Which conditions apply to vehicles transferring holders of a Czech ZTP or ZTP/P identity card?
In case of a roadside check, the holder of a ZTP or ZTP/P card must be present in the vehicle; otherwise, the exemption does not apply. It will suffice to present the relevant card during the roadside check. Citizens with such identity cards issued outside the Czech Republic have to pay for the e-vignette. For more information, follow this link.

Where can I find information about the end of validity of my e-vignette?
There are several options. You can check the validity online at www.edalnice.cz, where you simply select the State of registration and the number plate of a vehicle. Another option is to set a notification about nearing end of validity. Simply select the option during the purchase and you will receive an information to your preferred contact detail.

When will I receive confirmation of payment if I paid by a bank order?
You will receive confirmation of payment after the amount is credited to our bank account (within 5 days).
