Toll charge (Distance-based road charging)

Toll charge (Distance-based road charging)

The use of a toll road (motorways and selected toll roads) by a vehicle with the maximum permissible weight of over 3.5 tons shall be subject to a toll payment. The vehicle must be equipped with an on-board unit (OBU). The on-board unit is not transferable and its use is bound to a particular vehicle, which is registered in the Electronic Toll Collection System.

Toll rates

The toll amount is a product of toll rate and distance travelled on a toll road. The toll rates are defined according to emission standards (Euro 0–II; Euro III and IV; Euro V; EEV, Euro VI and higher), number of axle or combination of vehicles (2, 3, 4 and more) and part of a day (Friday 15:00–20:00 and other time slots).

 After the vehicle is registered in the Electronic Toll Collection System, incl. filling out and submission of relevant documents, you can select out of two following payment options:
  • Pre-pay at a distribution spot;
  • Post-pay by concluding an agreement at a contact point or by fuel cards issuer.
You can select only one option. It is not possible to combine them.

Pre-pay option

Pre-paid credit is uploaded to OBU before using a toll road. Toll can be prepaid at a point of sale or contact points in cash, by credit/debit/fuel card.
