OneTicket: Next Phase

OneTicket: Next Phase
15/12/2020Press releases

The next phase of the single tariff system for Czech railway, i.e. One Ticket, was launched on Sunday 13 December. After a successful pilot run on two routes, the passengers can use its benefits on all train connections commissioned by the Ministry of Transport and regions. OneTicket will offer easy travelling without a need to worry about which carrier the passengers are taking. It will also offer a 25% loyalty discount.

OneTicket: Next Phase

Overall 13 carriers operating connections in the so-called public service obligation joined the system. Carriers operating commercial connections, such as Prague-Ostrava, will join the single tariff next year.

“The biggest benefit of OneTicket is that it can be used across train carriers. It offers easy travelling. You purchase one ticket for the whole journey and do not have to worry about who operates which connection. You can purchase a single ticket, a return ticket, a line ticket for regular commuting to work or a network ticket for unlimited travelling around the Czech Republic. We have launched a live operation of the system but the developing process does not end. Next year, we plan not only adding commercial connections to OneTicket system but also introduction of other functionalities, such as a reservation system”, explains the minister of transport Karel Havlíček.

When should passengers use OneTicket

1)    If they transfer between trains of various carriers on their route. For example, a passenger travels from Brno to Opava with RegioJet express train from Brno to Ostrava-Svinov and then transfers to a following connection of České dráhy. So far, they would have need two tickets but with OneTicket they will need only one.

2)    If they regularly use a route with more carriers when travelling to work or school. For example, a passenger on a way from Plasy to Plzeň can travel with a regional connection of České dráhy as well as an express train of GW Train Regio. With a line ticket for Plasy-Plzeň, they can travel with both carriers and do not have to worry which carriers they have to take on their way home.

3)    When they travel only occasionally and do not want to deal with multiple carriers on the rail. For occasional passenger, the OneTicket will be a perfect solution representing a single ticket from starting point to the destination.

4)    When they wish to travel unlimitedly on the entire railway route. With more carriers on the rail, the possibility to use national network tickets of each carrier decreases. OneTicket is again a perfect solution. With OneTicket, passengers can travel anywhere at any time.

OneTicket is not a replacement of current tickets from each carrier. Passenger can choose what they prefer. OneTicket also protects passengers’ rights within the entire transport. In case of a long delay, they are entitled to assistance and financial compensation. OneTicket is a single contact point for all your inquiries. All carriers guarantee for the ride collectively and equally.

Which connections are now available in OneTicket

The pilot operation has already run from 14 June in two pilot areas, on routes between Plzeň and Most and between Česká Lípa and Rumburk. As of 8 December, 10,800 tickets were sold in the pilot operation. The biggest interest was registered in Česká Lípa where passengers can use passenger trains of České dráhy and express trains of Arrive simultaneously.

“The system gives people more options and freedom. You do not have to worry that you will not be accepted to a violet-colour train with a pink-colour ticket. If you miss one train, you can take a different one with the same ticket”, said Jan Paroubek, director of the state undertaking CENDIS, which develops the entire system for the Ministry of Transport. “On oneticket.cz or in the app, you can search a connection and purchase the ticket at the same time. It is very simple”, add Mr. Paroubek.

25% discount on single and return tickets

Starting from 13 December 2020, passengers can buy a ticket for regular price but also a single or return ticket with 25% discount. To do so, they will need an entry pass SJT25. The option offers 90 or 365 days ticket for CZK 236, or CZK 565. One ticket also considers discount ordered by the state for children, students, underage and seniors, while at the same time not combining the discounts with one another. Therefore, the passengers use either SJT25 or discount ordered by the state.

Help for disabled passengers

OneTicket also helps the disabled passengers. They can seek out advice or book assistance on the station or help with travelling on a wheelchair. They only need to send an e-mail to asistence@oneticket.cz in advance or call a number, which can be found on the oneticket.cz website. If it is technically possible, the control room will ensure journey from departure to destination and arrange help with all carriers that the disabled passenger need to travel with.

As of 13 December, the following carriers joined the single tariff system with public service compensation connections:
