Change of vehicle ownership

The person authorised to act is generally a natural or legal person registered in the Vehicle Registry as the current owner of the vehicle, the new owner and the new operator in the case of vehicle ownership transfer (e.g. sale, gift).

The owner of the vehicle may also authorise another person in writing; the new owner in the case of ownership transfer (e.g. inheritance).

The vehicle owner must apply for the registration of the change of owner within 10 business days of:
  • the transfer of vehicle ownership, or
  • the transfer of ownership of the vehicle or the effect date of a court decision in inheritance proceedings.
